I have this friend who doesn’t wanna go to the gym because she’s worried about what other people would think when she’s doing her workout.
I told her, such concerns can seriously hinder her fitness journey for improved fitness and for feeling better about herself, both physically and mentally.
Because of this, I encourage people to understand how they can make their gym experience more comfortable and more successful.

One thing that makes people nervous about visiting the gym and anxious when operating the machines is that they are not confident with using them. They are scared of making a mistake, and they worry that they will look like a fool to everyone else at the gym.
There is a simple way to overcome this: get the basics down. You should take an induction to learn how to use the machines correctly.
Do your research on the different muscle groups and how stretching properly will enhance your workout. Educating yourself on aspects of your workout will help you feel more confident, which will be evident to others at the gym.
It could also be useful to write your workout down and keep a workout journal, but also have alternative options if someone else is using the machine you want to use right now.
Look The Part
Looking the part and feeling like you know what you are doing is an excellent way to fake-it-till-you-make-it when at the gym.
Of course, you don’t want to be that gym-goer who has all the gear but no idea, but you can still find the perfect gym clothes for empowering women and providing the crucial support and comfort that can take your workout to the next level.
I mean, just look at her.. Pretty cute right?
You can even take it a step further and find workout options prior to joining the gym. Doing this will put you in a more confident position before you first step into your local gym, so you can hit the ground running, complete with your wireless headphones and fitness tracking gear.
Take Advantage of Off-Peak Hours
Finally, if you still struggle with overcoming gym anxiety, you can try taking advantage of the off-peak hours, which are usually in the middle of the day and just before the regular workday finishes.
During these hours, you won’t need to contend with as many people at the gym, which means fewer eyes are on you and therefore reduced anxiety.
Fewer people at the gym will also allow you to move through your workout more swiftly. You can use each machine without needing to wait around, and you won’t need to worry about taking too long on the equipment while someone is waiting around.
As your confidence grows, you can start going to the gym at more convenient hours, or you can stick to the off-peak times to get the most from your workout.
You shouldn’t care what others think when you’re working out, but if you lack the confidence and suffer from anxiety, this can be hard to do.
However, if you know how to overcome such issues, you can complete your workout without any problems, and the best thing about it is that you’ll be doing it for you and no one else.
So get your a$$ out there! Don’t complain, enjoy the pain to make gains!
