Running a blog is becoming more and more popular due to it being simple to start up. Most blogs are run using WordPress, with some using Wix or the likes of Squarespace. Either way, if your blog is successful there is a good chance that you can make an income from it.
When it comes to starting up a blog, try not to do it for the money as bringing in an income doesn’t happen straight away. At first, you will need to work on publishing regular content and finding your own niche. By writing about something you are interested in, you are more likely to upload more, instead of it tailing off.
When deciding what sector to base your blog on, have a think about what you are interested in. If you work for a law firm like Boulder Legal Group, you may want to write about any new laws coming into place.
Alternatively, if you are an accountant, you may want to write about financial freedom as we do on this blog. Below are three ways to make money with your blog.
Affiliate Marketing
One of the quickest ways to start making money on your blog is to implement affiliate marketing. What affiliate marketing is, is when someone clicks on a link from your site and buys something from that site, you make a small percentage of the sale.
This is quick to implement and easily done. This won’t bring in a huge amount of revenue but the more viewers you have, the more likely you are to earn more from it.
Google Ads
Google Ads is another one that is quickly added to your site and easy to sign up for. Google ads is an advertising platform where you install their code and they run ad campaigns as banners on your site.
Again, this is normally a small earner, but you will earn a certain percentage every time someone clicks on the banner to the advertiser’s site. With Google ads you can easily sign up for it and create yourself an account on the same day. They do have a support team if you need help getting it working.
Sponsored Posts
As you grow in size, brands will start to hear about your blog and want to work with you. When working with certain brands, you can charge them to be featured on your site. This fee is to be agreed upon between you and the brand but it is normal for you to earn more than a google ads campaign or an affiliate link.
If brands haven’t reached out to you, you can always reach out to them and send over a media pack that will tell them about your website stats.
These are just three ways to give you an idea of how you can earn an income from running a blog. By doing some research you’ll find there are many other ways to make an income from your blog.
